Within STACK/KSGB events the competition is a one round event, open to all. If any club/event organiser wishes to pass the results of their own competition for inclusion in the national rankings then they are most welcome to do so. If they wish to run a full three rounds as historically done there is no objection as long as the overall result is declared to STACK, not each round individually.

All rokkaku kites shall not be larger than 1.5m (individual) high, and of the traditional 6 sided format (Sanyo rokkaku style) flown by one person only.

All flying lines used shall be polyester in nature (i.e. dyneema); anyone found using other materials (e.g. twine, kevlar) shall be disqualified from the scoring.

Competitors will be expected to “fight” with their kites. Anyone found not entering into the sport of the competition could be disqualified.

There should not be any physical contact between the flyers, and no additional tools (e.g. water pistols) or cutting devices will be permitted.

All flyers shall remain within the competition field during flying, and no-one is permitted to enter and interfere in the competition.

The flyers shall not handle any other opponents kite, line, or person during the struggle. While knotted lines can be expected during this period and flyers are encouraged to extract themselves to continue, it will be the judge’s observation and decision to rule.

The idea of the fight is that the last kite under control still flying is the winner, and the score will list the order the kites fall, the larger the field the bigger the score for the winner.

The expected methods of fighting are: that the line is cut by friction by another line, the kite is toppled and strikes the ground, or the kite is forced to strike the ground. Any of these will be considered as a loss and the kite is out of the completion round.

If, after an agreed set time, there is no definitive winner, then the judges will allow a further five minutes flying and will decide upon the scoring by the most aggressive flying seen in that period.

Scoring will be accumulative over the year, and a national champion will be decided from that score. Judges will be from the organising group, not specifically from STACK or KSGB, and the results should be made available for inspection at their earliest convenience.

The judges’ decisions should be final; it is up to the organisers if there should be any further arrangements to be considered.

At the final event of the year (Margate Kite Festival) a champion shall be declared.
